EPSON Poster Printing Guide.

Using our EPSON 9890 Postscript compatible inkjet printer we can produce full colour posters from most Mac and PC Windows programs or EPS/TIFF/Acrobat files.

All colour artwork on screen should, where possible, be defined using process colour (CMYK values).

Scans should be saved as CMYK TIFF or EPS files. If you can only create RGB scans, note that there will usually be a colour shift because of the conversion process to CMYK. Any scanned pictures used in your document should have a resolution of 150dpi to 250dpi at the final size they will print at. e.g. a picture that will end up 3 times bigger on the final poster should be scanned at about 450 dpi to 750 dpi. Higher resolution pictures will not print with any more detail but will take a lot longer to plot.

For accurate colour matching we recommend that you use a process colour match guide (we can obtain these for you). Do not use your monitor as a predictor of the final colour output.

Our EPSON Printer is calibrated to accurately reproduce a wide range of Pantone spot colours. Please note though, that many of these colours cannot be printed correctly in CMYK; please check with a Pantone Process Colour swatch, or ask us. We will happily output a test swatch of the colours you intend to use.

If your program cannot create a document at full size then make it the nearest size possible. We will scale your file to the required size for plotting.

As with any Bureau work, please supply a list of ALL fonts used (even better, check with us before sending your files), and indicate whether their Postscript or True Type. Where possible use only Postscript fonts, not True Type versions.

ENCAPSULATION is the process of sandwiching a poster between two layers of flexible clear film of various thickness. This completely protects a poster from surface damage (fingerprints, liquid spills etc.). For large posters we normally recommend using 10 thou thick gloss film with a 5-10mm overlap. Other thicknesses can be used as well as a matt finish.

POLYBOARD is a 5mm thick lightweight white plastic/polystyrene sandwich board.

FOAMEX is a 3-5mm thick durable rigid white plastic board which is also class 1 fire rated.

SEALED mounted posters have their front surface laminated with gloss or matt film to give added protection.
